GED

The Career Place works with organizations in your neighborhood to help youth who have either dropped out of high school or need help preparing for the GED test. The programs offer guidance on career and college opportunities once you have earned your GED. The programs are in Somerville, Wakefield, Chelsea, and Cambridge. Our staff meet with youth to determine if they are eligible to attend these classes at no cost, based on income, citizenship, and pre-testing scores. Youth who qualify under our eligibility guidelines and who are between the ages of 14 and 21 will be referred to the appropriate program. Openings for these classes begin every July, but do fill up fast.
